Care home alternatives

What is meant by live-in care?

Watra Care provides exceptional live-in care and a very good substitute to moving to a care home. You may continue to live in the comfort of your own home alongside regular care treatment.

This will range from short-term to long-term depending on your needs as well as the complexity of any challenges you may face. We offer affordable and practical alternative support to residential care if you have been recently discharged from the hospital and are hoping to get back on track with your lives.

How we can help:

All of our live-in care services are tailored to each and every one of our customers based on their individual needs and requirements. This allows you to stay in your own homes with the people you love the most. At Watra Care, every day is always a fresh start and you have the opportunity of enjoying outings and social visits as and when it suits you, unlike residential care trips which are often arranged beforehand.

We offer extensive services as part of our live-in care:

  • Personal and professional care
  • Togetherness
  • Medication management
  • Preparing meals
  • Housekeeping
  • Social events and outings
  • Assistance with pets
  • Respite care – allows your carer and/or family members to take a break

Benefits of Live in Care for couples

The benefits of live-in care are multiplied when the care is provided for a couple. These benefits are both emotional and financial.

In most cases, staying at home in well-loved surroundings, without the upheaval of a major move, provides a stress free, seamless move into assisted living. When there is no need to adjust to new surroundings and familiar people, places and things are close at hand, all of your energies can be applied to enjoying your quality of life rather than worrying about new situations.

Financially, it is generally less expensive to have a live-in assistant at home for two people than to be faced with two sets of fees for separate care of each partner.

Sometimes one partner in the relationship is more able than the other and so the care of the less able person falls to them. We can offer support when the main carer needs a break or some extra support at home for a short time.

Difference between home care and a care home

 Live-in care:

Care is given on a one-to-one basis

Can continue to live inside your own homes

Freedom and privacy

Personalised and tailored

Autonomy and dignity

Your house can be left to your loved ones

No two days are the same

Care home:

1 care assistant is assigned to every 30 residents

Family, pets, possessions are left behind

Bed and meal times are regulated

Communal living

Can be crowded

Limiting outings and orderly routines

Your home may be sold to fund care

     Who will provide the care?

At Watra Care, all of our live-in care assistants are fully trained and employed directly by ourselves. We provide regular supervision and professional personal development to everyone on our team. Each individual care assistant is carefully assigned to a customer based on their individual needs and requirements.

Our care assistants will treat you and your homes with respect as well as your personal space and privacy and will be instantly available to provide professional care as and when you require it. This may not always be available in a typical, busy care home.
